Dramatic scenes on a highway in Kazakhstan's Akmola region on January 3: approximately 95 cars were involved in a multi-vehicle crash as a result of heavy snowstorm. Authorities cited the icy and foggy conditions as well as failure to observe speed limits and safe distances as the cause of the pile-up. At least 12 people were injured and taken to hospital.
