A recent study on artificial intelligence highlighted which jobs are at risk of being replaced by AI in the near future. Researchers from Nokia Bell Labs used a new measure called the Artificial Intelligence Impact score to assess which occupations are most at risk. Research suggests that while certain roles requiring manual dexterity, like plumbing or carpentry, are unlikely to be automated soon. 60% of cardiovascular technologists' tasks and 48% of MRI technologists' tasks could potentially be done by AI. Jobs that involve following scripts, such as call center positions, are at higher risk. Automation has already impacted sectors like manufacturing, contributing to job losses and even increasing mortality rates among displaced workers. However, the overall rate of job displacement by robots is often exaggerated. Only about 14% of workers have lost jobs to automation, despite widespread fears. Professions requiring human understanding and interaction, such as healthcare, are expected to benefit from AI rather than be replaced by it.
